Legal Services: Public Defender
Beltrami County is seeking a qualified attorney to provide part-time county public defender services for 2025-2028 with the possibility of extension. The services to be provided include representation for indigent persons in paternity cases, parents in juvenile matters, indigent wards in guardianship and conservatorship matters, respondents in judicial commitment proceedings (including Special Review Board proceedings and appeals), and all other persons for which the law may require that counsel be furnished by the County, including appeals to the Minnesota Court of Appeals or the Minnesota Supreme Court. Contracted counsel must meet the qualifications set forth in Minnesota Statutes § 260C.163, subd. 3(i) and/or Minnesota Judicial Council policy no. 604.
It is the intention of Beltrami County to contract with one attorney at this time for an annual contract of $71,100 per year (with escalators), payable at the monthly rate of $5,925 per month.
