Press Release: One Deceased Following Domestic Disturbance Call

Ten Lake Township, Beltrami County, MN – One person is deceased following a domestic violence call in rural southeastern Beltrami County. At 4:36AM on August 17, 2024, the Beltrami County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance outside of a residence in Ten Lake Township. Beltrami County Deputies and Leech Lake Police Officers responded to the scene.
Upon arrival of Leech Lake Police Officers, the domestic disturbance continued with one subject determined to be unresponsive and not breathing. Leech Lake Ambulance was dispatched to the scene while lifesaving efforts continued. The subject was transported to Cass Lake Indian Health Services and was pronounced deceased.
The second subject involved in the disturbance was placed under arrest and is currently in custody at the Beltrami County Correctional Facility awaiting formal charges by the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office. The deceased has been transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy with results pending.
The identity of the subjects involved in this incident are not being released at this time. Law enforcement does not believe there is a threat to the public resulting from this incident.
This incident is being investigated by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Leech Lake Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and Leech Lake Police Department were assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Bemidji Police Department, Leech Lake Ambulance and Blackduck Ambulance.
