Public Works Department - Solid Waste Division

Recycling, Composting and Reuse

Proper waste management includes recycling. Future increases in Beltrami County's solid waste costs will be determined on how well our residents can follow the core: reduce, reuse & recycling values.

Mismanagement of solid waste will increase annual costs due to increased sorting & clean-up due to contamination.  It makes sense to separate recyclable material out of our waste as much as possible to reduce our future costs. Currently, we do not pay a processing fee for recyclable material that is source separated out of the waste at the resource recovery facility. In addition to rising costs and waste volumes, recycling will reduce raw materials and energy needed.

Many charities and community groups raise money through reusing and recycling goods. Beltrami County has many for-profit & non-profit stores that will take your unwanted clothes, electronics, furniture and other household items to resell.
