Salvage Permits

A permit can be obtained by visiting the Natural Resource Management office located in the Beltrami County Administration building.
Salvage firewood permits will be issues at a cost of $25.00 per permit. All permits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Permits are valid for three months.
Permits may be renewed at the discretion of the District forester for an additional $25.00.
Permits will be available for the clean-up of timber landing sites after timber sales are completed and closed.
Permits will be sold on a "first-come, first-served" basis and more than one permit may be issued in a timber sale area.
It is the responsibility of the permittee to inspect the salvage area prior to purchasing the permit. Amount and quality of salvage will vary by site.

No standing timber may be cut, only downed wood is permitted.
Additional permit regulations may be placed at the discretion of the District Forester.
Permits are for home use only - No commercial permits will be issued.
Permit holders are responsible for any damage to roads and/or trails resulting from their salvage operation.
Roads and/or trails must be kept open and clean of debris.
Salvage permits are only valid in the assigned area indicated on the permit.
Permittee must possess their copy of the salvage firewood permit at all times when cutting or may be charged with timber trespass.
Permittee shall conduct all activities in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
Violations of permit regulations will constitute a timber trespass and must be paid for at triple stumpage.
Permits may be revoked at any time. Permit violations or timber trespass situations will result in immediate termination of the permit.
